In this web-based session, facilitators Shannon Wachowski and Mare Sullivan will guide an exploration of how incorporating POGIL activities can help you implement the NGSS in your middle school or high school science classroom.  Wachowski, a science teacher at Platte Valley High School in Kersey, CO, and Sullivan, 2013 Washington State Secondary Science Teacher of the Year and current adjunct faculty member at Seattle Pacific University, will help you:

  1. Compare POGIL Process Skills with NGSS science and engineering practices.
  2.  Analyze evidence to determine how POGIL resources can support the different dimensions of the NGSS.
  3. Identify 3-4 published (or soon-to-be-published) activities that you can implement in your course this year.
This session is most useful for teachers of these courses:
  • Middle School Life Science
  • Middle School Earth and Space Science
  • High School Biology
  • High School Chemistry
Registration for this event is limited to 28 people.  Registrants will be sent a Zoom meeting invitation approximately 1 week prior to the webinar.  Please note that the session begins at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.  The session is scheduled for 1 hour but the facilitators will remain available to answer questions at the completion of the session.

Cancellation Policy:  Registered participants who cancel by November 22, 2018 will receive a refund minus a $5 administrative fee.  No refunds will be given for cancellations received after November 22, 2018.
